Dear all, welcome to the eight match of the Corporate Liga 09/10
Referee of the day is Mr André Urbing, of Federation Luxembourgeoise de Football, who devolves his emolument to “Doctors without borders” .
Many players complained to have been hurt or to have received a blow on the legs. As reminded many times by the referee, we always suggest the use of shin guards. They are not expensive, very comfortable, and avoid many risks. Please, use them.
Evening with less goals than usual, except for PwC, who as usual lets most of his players to score. A box match between Ferrero and SEB, while the other two matches were fair. Eurizon came back to the victory, PwC confirmed his second place behind Ferrero, always leader of the tournament.
Eurizon vs. Citi 9-3
Both teams at the middle position of the list. Not many players at disposal for the Whites, with only six players. Not better also for Eurizon, today with D’Esposito as goalkeeper.
Diego Armando Liguori, today in a top condition, made a miracle: take back the three points to his team. A victory that Eurizon was looking for since the first day, after the first three points against BBH.
The secret was probably only psychologic pressure, as this time, in the second half, succeeded to control the game, avoid their typical errors in the defence, and score with Schifano and Liguori (three goals each one). To underline that finally they had the honour and the pleasure to have a very nice fan to support them. Is this your secret, Mr Liguori? We’ll discover it in the next match against BoNY.
As also underlined in the interview, Citi wasn’t motivated this time. Maybe because they didn’t have anyone to support them? Guys, try to bring supporters or to bring something to drink (as Mizuho), maybe it will work. As the next match will be against the Japanese bank, we suggest a very strong energy drink.
Best players: Schifano and Rodrigues
Fair play: Liguori and Simon
Ferrero vs. SEB 5-4
It was since the match between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield we didn’t see a match like this. A derby between two Italian teams. Incredible attacks, and very good defence; both teams probably will play in the final four.
Reds without their best player, Matteo De Bosio, very busy to take care about the incredible number of cheerleaders he has taken with him. Not stupid at all. SEB with the usual team, with Lion Martini in the role of Gattuso.; and few cheerleaders also for them. High technical quality in both side, two goalkeepers who defended very well their goal (that’s why also few goals in the match), and many many faults. Too many. Referee was obliged to give 5 yellow cards, and we think he should be more generous to give more ones. The match was suspended in the second half as all players were quite nervous.
Very physical match, and at the end Ferrero again went home with three points. Calorio promised to end this year with Cup. Will he maintain his promise? We’ll see it in the final in May.
Best players: Calorio and Castaldo
Fair play: no one (sad but true)
PwC vs. BBH 14-5
Fair match , with BBH not at the same level of last week, when they almost stopped Ferrero. Different occasions in both sides, few errors, but already in the first half Reds closed the match with seven goals difference. Pressing, counter attacks, and goals by all players were the key to close this match.
However, in the second half, the pride of BBH went out, and under the continuous indications and supports of Mr. Chentouf, they scored five goals, putting more pressure on the Auditors.
Next match the big challenge between PwC and SEB. No pronostics, quite difficult to do it. For sure a very good match, not to loose at all. BBH instead will play against Fidelity, not easy, but Chentouf and Co. may take home three points.
Best players: Fondeur and Olivier
Fair play: both goalkeepers
Next Thursday different interesting matches, EIF vs. BoNY and Fidelity vs. Mizuho. All teams can win their respective match. Mission impossible for Cetrel, who needs a miracle against Sanpaolo. But we never know in life….
