Referees of the day are Mr Josy Hansen and Mr André Urbing, of Federation Luxembourgeoise de Football, who devolves his emolument to "Doctors without borders".
After the incredible semifinal in Champion’s League, also the Golem’s players are ready to fight to conquer the final for the Corporate Liga. The Stadium is crowded, all teams have taken with them more supporters as possible. Sunny evening, quite hot. But very electric atmosphere on the field…
PwC vs Ernst Young 6-5
As prognosticated, a very strong and fighted match. Many, too many polemics among players
A very nice surprise since the beginnings for all the audience: Steve Yacè, the very good goalkeeper of PwC wasn’t available, so the Auditors called miss Tania Moreis, the first lady in our Luxembourg tournament. Congratulations to her, especially for the lovely match. If PwC is in final, it is also thanks to her good work in the goal. Except for this new entry, both companies had the usual team.
We can underline also a challenge inside the challenge: the two goalkeepers Kempeneer vs Moreis; Chorfi vs Hayden (top scorer for each team). High technical skills from both sides. Who can make the difference?
The match started with E&Y full of energy, applying a paralyzing pressing. Simmou and Co. had no more way to move, and when they succeeded to shoot, Kempeneer the Wall was always ready. On the attack side, Ozkan, Hayden and Paul could penetrate quite easily the defence, and score in front of the goalkeeper. Not an easy night for PwC, as all players of the Whites have a very high technical skill and could be all dangerous; moreover different errors in the defence let Moreis a very hard work. Suleman Chorfi, as often, second top scorer of the tournament, left few hopes for his scoring two goals, closing the first half 4-2 for E&Y.
In the second half, step by step nervosism increased, especially in the Whites. Different times referees had to whistle, and the match decreased in quality. Too many faults and too many complaints, with players more busy to shout against the referees than playing, with an increasing of tension in the atmosphere.
As often seen during the tournament, PwC keeped the control and slowly slowly started to recover the goal difference. Chorfi, Simmou and Kourrad drawed the goals, after the goal of Lavarenne.
Two times weren’t enough to decide the final team, so other two of ten minutes, with the golden goal rules, should be taken. The first half always very nervous, with both teams trying to score; but it’s only in the first minute of the second half that Suleman Chorfi, man of the match with 4 goals, took by hand his team to a final.
Meritated victory for PwC, with E&Y who played less well the always, probably due to the tension and nervosism
Sanpaolo vs Ferrero 9-2
A very sweet Kinder surprise for Sanpaolo guys. After a very good and fair match ,Belardi and Co. go to Final for the second consecutive year, as two days before Manchester United did in Champion’s League. May Ronaldo and Co. take example from these guys?
Sanpaolo with the usual team, plus Friggione in the defence; Ferrero without D’Ambrosio (injured), Donnini and Calorio, but with Lucchetti back as striker. The stadium full of girls following their heroes, for both sides.
Never bookmakers could think about a one sense match, especially after the last draw during the tournament. Orange guys took the control of the game, leaving to Whites only few occasions in counter attacks, but with Ambrosio in the goal, it’s never easy. Pressing from both sides, with the pourpose to block any action since the midfield. The first half saw the fantastic match of Bogusz, today man of the match, with three goals and a very good work in defence supporting all the team. Captain Belardi was a reference point for the team: always fast, ready for counter attack, and generous to offer assistance to his colleagues; supported very well by Giovanni Sequi, always dangerous, alone or in team actions. First half closed 5-0 for Sanpaolo, a score that doesn’t need any comment
The second half is similar to the first, with Orange always controlling the match, trying to score and especially, without relaxing on the score. De Bosio succeeded to score two goals at the end of the time, for the honour of his team.
The match doesn’t need any more comments, as the final result is clear: another final for Sanpaolo, meritated, as they are not loosing a match since two years. Ferrero, after a straordinary season, has to stop here, and will play for the 3rd /4th place.
The final will see PwC vs Sanpaolo in a very hot match till the last second; withok the other final Ferrero vs E&Y. A prognosticated final, meritated by both teams, who have the best attack, the best defence and the best scorer (and goalkeeper) of the tournament.
The final date will be communicated next week to all teams.
