THE PARTY OF GOALS
Dear all, welcome to the first match of the Corporate Liga 08/09
Referee of the day is Mr Andrè Urbing,of Federation Luxembourgeoise de
Football, who devolves his emolument to "Doctors without borders" . The
referee congratulates with the players for the fairplay showed in the field.
Before starting the comments, let me say welcome to all new players that
joined us this year. I hope you'll enjoy our tournament, and hope the best
team could win.
The day was characterized by an incredible amount of goals, in all the
matches. Probably it's due to the lack of condition or the insertion of new
players of few teams. but we remind that the tournament is quite long, so
everything is possible till the end.
Bank of New York Mellon - Pricewaterhouse Coopers 4-15
Both are new teams, and not used to play in this field. But this doen't seem
to be a problem for PWC, that dominated the match since the beginning.
Phisically in better conditions, with an incredible goalkeeper, who defended
his goal different times with plastic and great savings.
But BoNY didn't demerite. More focused on passive attack (free kick and
corners), they succeeded in scoring few fantastic goals, as a free kick
available on the video section. The problem is the physical conditions, and
lack of concentration in the defence, especially in the goalkeeper area. Too
many times PWC strikers were alone against the goalkeeper, thanks also to a
quickly and precise counter attacks. Best player Suliman, who scored 10
goals, and he's behind Sequi as top scorer.
PWC has all chances to be one of the top teams of the year, but the
competition will be quite hard, especially in such a long tournament, where
everything is possible.
Eurizon - Dexia 3- 16
Welcome back to Eurizon, who lost last year the final against the "cousins"
Sanpaolo. Mr Liguori made a turnover of players, inserting Viero, Molino and
D'Esposito (our Busso and Bernasconi). A turnover that had his price: there
wasn't a perfect feeling among players (they need to play more together),
and a lack of physical condition made the huge difference between the two
teams. Eurizon attacked different times, but they missed the capacity to
conclude in the last meters, probably because of the slowness of the
organization.
On the other side, Dexia (also in blu as Eurizon), showed a compact team,
well organized, more focused on pressing and very well trained. Different
goals scored in front of the referee, showing its skills to close the
opposite team in the area and score easily in a confortable position.
Best player David Gassihoun, with 4 goals and different assists.
Sanpaolo - Citi 22-4
The Golem's champions respect the pronostic, and won easily a new entry,
Citi. However without Belardi, Sanpaolo forced the white players in their
area, with Sequi (best player, 11 goals, and top scorer for the moment)
always in the correct place in the right moment, like a vulture waiting to
eat his prey. Not so much work today with the always good Ambrosio,
Sanpaolo's keeper.
Citi group has no chance today, but as this is its first match, the next for
sure will be better. It's very difficult to judge a team that plays against
Sanpaolo, as its' so strong. Citi succeeded to score for first in the match,
however the yellows's pressing. More attention in the defence, more pressing
in the midfield and few matches more, we think Citi could show its real
value.
The next match will show the other 6 teams participating to the tournament.
