Dear players and audience, welcome to the Final of Corporate Liga 2011!
Referees of the match, both of Federation Luxembourgeoise de Football, are Carlo Bache and Andre Urbing, who’s devolving his emolument to Doctors without Borders.
We would like to thank all players, referees, photographer, audience who participated to this tournament. A long year, full of surprises, emotions, goals, polemics, discussions. In one word: football. After three years of qualifications to the Playoff, PwC finally won the tournament. A meritated victory, built match by match, managing the turnover, the absence, increasing harmony and will to win. They will succeed to win the Cup also next year? We’ll see, but for the moment they are the Champions! Swiss Life vs. Abn Amro 4-6
Final of the Mini Tournament. Facing each other two new teams who grow up during the year, and need few matches to find an own identity.
Few players for each side, six for Swiss, only 5 for Abn. Swiss without Meloni and Rui Pinto, while Abn without Rodicq, Basten and Ausilio.
First half is dominated by Abn Amro, whose captain Quignon (man of the match), was a real pain in the defence of the Whites. It was impossible to stop him, and with few great actions, he scored a poker that cut the will of Swiss. The break took a wind of oxygen to the Ronchetti and Co.. At the beginning of the break, Rosetti scored the goal of 6-1, closing theoretically the match. It’s around half of the time when Ayache scored and gave back the energy to his team, who followed his example with Pascuzzo and Ronchetti re-opened the game. Last minutes full of occasions, but a good Pascher (keeper for the second half in Abn), did’t let them the possibility to draw.
A lovely and fair match, between two teams we hope to see next year stronger than ever.
SEB vs. E&Y 8-6 Match between two great teams who meritated to be on the Final, but they have to play also this consolation Final.
SEB without Sequi (top scorer of the tournament) and Ambrosio; while E&Y with the usual team.
Score was opened after one minute by Rahmouni, who stole the ball to Zorzetto and in counter attack didn’t let any chance to Cataldo (today keeper of the Italians). SEB didn’t demoralise, and with a nice double of Puccinelli changed the score. It’s a nice match, tough but fair, full of occasions. SEB scored other three goals and closed the first half 5-2. Difficult score for the Whites, who has played however a very good match.
Second half with more goals, Rahmouni scored again after one minute, but a double of Cataldo (another great match for him) gave enough distance for SEB to control the match. It’s only at the end when E&Y found finally few spaces inside the Italian defence, and decreased the passive to 8-6. Unfortunately for them, it’s too late to draw.
SEB concluded another great tournament, with only one defeat in the semifinal, exactly as E&Y. Both great teams, who will have another chance to win the next year.
PwC vs. Pictet 7-4 And now finally the last and more important match of the season. The Final match, who decides the Champion. In front two teams who has already played one versus each other during the regular season, and that time Pictet won.
PwC with all possible players, in order to have any available chance; Pictet with new White t-shirts for the Final, and with the usual gold couple Yagoub & Birrou in attack, Nascimiento and Durand to protect Driutti.
A tough match for Mr. Bache, with different yellow cards and free kicks, but always in a fair environment.
It’s the Auditors who opened the score after few minutes with Simmou; but Yagoub, Nascimiento and Birrou changed the score, while Mannoy closed the second half 3-2 for Pictet. Difficult match, very high pressing, it’s very difficult to find spaces, and both keepers are very attentive and ready to go out from the area when necessary.
Second half lovely as the first, neither team gave any chance to the other. PwC recovered with a double of Mannoy, but Birrou drawed the score. Great suspense among the spectators, as both teams have chances to win. Few goalposts for Birrou and Co., and many occasions lost; after Admakiewicz scored the goal of 5-4, and a double of Van Renterghem who closed the match, the last goal in a counter attack at the last minute, during a forcing of Pictet to find the draw.
PwC won a very difficult match, and meritated this cup. Congratulations also to Pictet, who played to most beautiful football of the tournament.
AWARDS
Best Keeeper: to Antoine Madelpech, a smiling keeper, to whom PwC has to thanks for the Final cup. It was very difficult to assign the award this year, as Kempeneer and Ambrosi meritated it too.
Top Scorer: to Giovanni Sequi, for another year top scorer of the season, with 64 (!!!!) goals. Golem has been very happy to collaborate with all these teams this year and hopes to have them also next year for the tournament 2011-2012. See you all next season |
