AND THE WINNER IS…..
Dear players, welcome to the final of Corporate Liga 08/09
Referees of the day are Mr Josy Hansen and Mr André Urbing, of Federation Luxembourgeoise de Football, who devolves his emolument to "Doctors without borders".
Before to narrow the incredible finals, let me spend few words to resume the tournament. We would like to thank you all players, referees, photographer who were with us during the tournament; the players who injured and come back to play, and others who are still recovering (hope to see you next year).
It was a year full of goals, discussion, polemics, show time, injuries, victories…. in one word, football.
We congratulate with all teams for the tournament they played and animated, we hope to see you all after the summer break
Ferrero vs Ernst Young 6-4
Final for the third place, for a match you could be also for the first one. Two great teams, more than 100 goals scored each one; both teams have different players who can make the difference, no one only leader.
New red t shirts for Kinder guys, today without Frizzi and Lucchetti, but with Milo Zagari, a new entry. Always the grey t shirt for E&Y, with the new entry Yann Malka. Both new players scored today
The match is quite good, with different occasion from both side. Both teams want to win, and attack each other leaving the opportunities for counter attacks. There is no one team who can take the control of the game; just a series of occasions, with both goalkeepers always ready. It’s Natola to score for first, but few minutes later Malka scores the draw. Hayden with a free kick and Ozkan scored again, but De Bosio, few minutes before the break, closed the first half 3-2 for E&Y.
Nice match, with Auditors more proactive to create and exploit the different occasions they succeed to create; few moment however of nervosism, with two yellow cards.
The second half starts with another free kick and goal of Hayden, taking his team 4-2. And here we see the same situation of the semifinal: E&Y cannot manage the situation and keep the advantage; while Ferrero, with a great heart, and a fantastic Zusari, scored 4 goals reversing the score. Ferrero closes third the tournament, ready to come back next year to fight for the final. This team doesn’t need anything more: they are great team, a strong defence, and a fantastic attack. Perfection cannot be touched.
E&Y closes the tournament as fourth. The team has a great attack, and a fantastic goalkeeper; the problem is the defence: the magic trio Ozkan-Paul-Hayden is more propensive to attack than defend, and the number of goals taken (20 more than the first three teams) shows their limit.
Kempeneer wins the award as best goalkeeper of the year.
PwC vs Sanpaolo 2-5
Pronosticated and meritated final. Two teams that have never lost any game this year; a polemic and figheted draw during the tournament. The best attack and defence. Two incredible goalkeepers: Ambrosio and Yacè. Best top scorer of the tournament: Sequi (61 goals) and Chorfi (56).
The stadium is full; we have never seen in Luxembourg so many persons for a football match, both teams are supported by their cheerleaders
Sanpaolo comes with all team, PwC without Dufrane and Sacrè. First final for PwC, the second one for the 2008 champions.
The score is open by Giovanni Sequi, after two minutes, with a precise diagonal at the left of Yacè. The match is quite equilibrated, but Bogusz steels the ball at midfield and in counter attack scores the second goal. During the Final Four, this guy was essential for his team. Simmou, with a fantastic goal, reopened again the match, till Belardi, after a free kick, closed the first half 3-1. Sanpaolo perfect in every action, with Ambrosio ready to close any problem behind; different errors for PwC, that usually they don’t make during the tournament. But as already seen in semifinal and during all the season, PwC has the great skill to reverse the score. This match however Chorfi is very well controlled, and as Oranges don’t make any errors in the defence, they are no so many occasions for him. Boguzs, man of the match, scores again, giving to his team the possibility to control the result, waiting for the strong goal of Adamkiewicz and the half of the period. The goal that closed the match is scored by Ambrosio, goalkeeper of Sanpaolo, who run out of his area to take a ball that was going out, shooting it in the goal, letting of his supporters to start the party.
Sanpaolo wins the tournament, again, and without any match lost. Strong team, best top scorer, great goalkeeper. A meritated victory. PwC lost with honour, however played better during all the tournament. The difference was maybe done by the emotion to be in the final.
Top scorer of the tournament is Sequi with 62 goals, followed by Chorfi with 56. Congratulations to both, as they scored in every game, with an average of more than 5 goal each match.
Congratulations also to Yacè and Ambrosio, who are the only goalkeepers of the tournament to have scored a goal. They meritated as well the award as best goalkeeper.
We wish to all players a lovely summer. See you all next year, for a new challenging tournament.
